New entry-level cell phone from Huawei. The Huawei Y6 2019 is here and wants to score with one thing above all: the price. When it comes to the equipment, you have to do without a few things.
The Huawei Y6 was first offered for sale at the end of 2015. In May 2018, a new edition followed for the last time as the Huawei Y6 2018 and now, almost a year later, the revised new version is available. With a larger display, the latest operating system, but without the popular dual camera on the back. Nevertheless, the Huawei Y6 2019 can be a good alternative for all those people who are looking for an inexpensive smartphone.
The Huawei Y6 2019 is available in black and turquoise. And also in an elegant brown imitation leather design. The display is almost 6.1 inches and offers a resolution of 720 x 1,560 pixels. The processor used is the Helio A22 from MediaTek (MTK MT6761), which has four CPU cores and a peak clock rate of 1.6 GHz. Additional features include 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of flash memory for personal data. The memory can be expanded using a micro SD card – by up to 512 GB.
Smartphone enthusiasts will only smile tiredly at this point. Because one thing is clear: the equipment is only interesting for smartphone beginners or infrequent users. Although the Huawei y6 2019 sim free is pretty to look at with its large display with a small notch at the top, the performance is generally rather manageable.
Equipment – Sufficient in everyday life
A Mediatek MT6761 with four cores, supported by 2 GB of RAM, serves as the drive. Where the announced “outstanding performance” is supposed to come from, probably only the marketing department at Huawei knows. On the other hand, this is a typical, almost good, feature for an entry-level smartphone. Nobody in this price range can complain about 32 GB of internal memory that can be expanded by up to 512 GB (exFat possible) – on the contrary. However, if you go into detail, you will definitely find gaps in the specification sheet.
Interested parties search in vain for NFC, for example, and also for fast WiFi ac. The Y6 (2019) doesn’t even have a fingerprint sensor, and LTE is over with Cat 6 (300 Mbit / s download). But that’s not a broken leg. The already mentioned micro-USB port is more annoying, instead it would finally be time for Type-C in the entry-level class. The jack plug for conventional headsets, on the other hand, will certainly please many users.
Software – The Y6 (2019) offers the latest Android
While Type-C was not yet able to establish itself in the lower price range in 2019, the manufacturers have now at least understood that an up-to-date operating system should be available even if the retail price is low. Accordingly, Huawei installs Android 9 Pie on the Y6 (2019) and adapts its features through its own user interface EMUI 9.0.1. For example, it allows you to do without an app drawer ex works (but it can be activated) and offers access to additional Huawei services such as designs. Unfortunately, Huawei does not have Widevie L1 certification, so high-resolution videos cannot be streamed in HD. Because of the only existing 720p + resolution of the display, that’s not a problem.
